Kacey Musgraves, the yodeling girl, is a 15 year old singer/songwriter from
Mineola, Texas. Kacey got her start performing at the monthly
"Buckaroos" gathering at the Cowtown
Opry in the Fort Worth Stockyards, where she was mentored by some
wonderful folks, such as Janet
McBride (aka "The Yodel Queen of Texas") and Devon Dawson (aka "Jessie
The Yodeling Cowgirl.)
Kacey won the
"International Youth Yodeling Champion" in Tucson, Arizona at the Western Music Association Awards
Show in November 2001. She is the youngest person ever to have received the
"Yodeler of the Year" award at the 2002 Will Rogers Cowboy Awards, sponsored
by the Academy of Western Artists.
Kacey was selected to
attend the 2002 Winter Olympics in Utah, where she performed from February
6th thru 26th at the Wild West Show . The
highlight of the trip was appearing nationwide on the NBC "Today Show,"
serenading Katie Couric and Matt Lauer in 18 degree weather!
In May 2002, Kacey won the
"Patsy Montana National Yodeling Championship."
